Watch Your Mouth

What is ableist language?

Ableism is discrimination against people with disabilities.

Ableist language includes words, phrases, and expressions that reinforce ableism. Many of these words are used inadvertently.

I'm making a commitment to pay attention to the words I use every day, and Linvite you to join me!

I know it's going to take time to unlearn, but I won't let perfect get in the way of very good. I hope you will help keep me accountable along the way, and I will do the same for you.

Here are some words to start practicing with!
Bananas instead of Crazy
Wild instead of Psycho
Unbelievable instead of Bonkers
Boring instead of Lame
Dull instead of Stupid
Vapid instead of Dumb
