This proof-of-concept project sought to determine whether affective and physiological regulation in individuals with autism could be promoted through dynamic adjustments in the ambient environment.

Light, sound, smell, and other sensory stimuli within the space were designed to adjust to accommodate each visitor’s comfort and enjoyment. Led by Dr. Matthew Goodwin, James Coleman, and JB&B, the Living Room installation at the Common Senses Festival allowed visitors to explore the technology in its early prototype stages and share feedback.

Guests interacted with and shaped these ambient environments, manipulating light, sound, and the overall atmosphere of the installation space. The experience offered a glimpse into the potential of this technology to shape our environments in the future.
